If. They are. They education it was a combination of reading action. Self the Stasi collection law and a bunch of discussions going over. We tried a few years that's right but it was the anger of the prophets of the Old Testament with the cool detachment of the greatness they can step back and have the feel of the thing and organize so you have to be almost face what we call a while integrated says he saw. Half the battle of big dividing the two parts and yet be silent to where the folks are still hang together if you're going to be the one. You want the most. You are. Going to. Party with. QUESTION What would. We look for a. While. I must take action for example.
Most issues are about 54 46 54 positive 46 and I get it. I was of them and rarely do get a case where one side is all right the other side is all wrong. But when you are in the field of action you don't have to move in terms of we're all angels and they're all devils. Otherwise you're not going to move you have to move on a base of five a side to none and discussing with former someone I brought up the Declaration of Independence but I brought it up in the area of ethics and I'd like to bring it up in the area of tactics the fact that. We left out the bulk of tech. And they are both detectives very deliberately. All things are better shut down farce only put on all the pace they did against us. On attack vices. This was impaired because we were asking. The young American out there to. Leave this family.
John McConnell Army-Navy pattered die for the revolution. He wasn't gonna do it for 6 or 8 percent that was you know the sign of a farce. So much more advanced post on the spot that my thoughts. On all issues when you fight. The enemy is. Completely wrong. This is something as some are that excited. How are you. Why do you do such a thing. You annoy the fans from the west as white flags and what are we going to go attack the west. I said but he's a good guy and certain otherwise you know I'm sure Wallace is wiping lingos wife love them too. Maybe. Coming right. When you're in a conflict can open up these things. So half of you know if you come visit us here. The massive action is taking place on the stage and you're involved in the tax deal is up there. Then the happiest third Rossana. And watch it now and for a while all the time. But when the time for negotiations come with you got about a
5 percent bridge to cross not a hundred percent. And yet the same time I. No you're over them now and it's only 5 percent you're up there fighting I can honestly. It's 100 percent percent and this kind of conflict inside me to. See what I mean by being a well integrated skate so. You don't have to well you have to watch so. He growled at the point where. You cannot duck and the area of tactics although you have the deep banker in terms of. The issues in the area of tactics and stuff you can never. Be self emotionally affected by charges of the opposition against you or. Personal attacks against sauce for the kinds of things that go on all the time. You have no idea what people say because this will affect a judgement just short of a fighter in the right you can't close your head on what you just can't be
affected by and a great many people protected levels streets and skin and things start to. Happen and I take it off player Sean they start. Banging my convict up on this process. I can remember going all the way back about 20 years ago. I want. One. Which one of us before you die is but just before World War 2. There was a good deal of movement in this country to keep out of World War 2. And those days when clearly I was working there. Which the CIA was very active this particular room you have to have an awful lot of. TIME Some. Time is party line at that time. This is an imperialist war a plague on both their houses just before the invasion of Russia. My position was all art. Just like place a declaration of
war on us Jacques. Kallis was passed around by. Hand on the side of the world had Bush I'm with. You while my. Mate post. You don't want top officials not with me. My mother wishes I made some remark about stuff. And I want to at least make the fantasy. Life. Your brain flooded with us because our confession to heart liberals WHAT ARE THERE AREn't WE yet. Get home. Better. That's something the left probably actually sequence of reaction those days was a very interesting one to. Get exactly the actions whether we actually. Call a brawler I'd call a brawl while. A fascist would be shot down hard on fascist or
warmongers. So. Your calmness. So what's to come right back into the red bashing when you get really angry. And you join up with some we had Thomas a while read bettors and the cycle would son start taking form until by the time he reached the fourth stage you really were a loss. But you did the Japanese saw feel you began saying read some of the best and all that kind of stuff you think you are ready to be a up version. Of I asked a question. Alright see I want I have got a center. I hate I always had to go to Sun i. Don't have. What. I require is
fun. That's a start of a chip work today. You dare to question what you are going as a community. Do you care how they are via worry or care about how the power is yours. As I. Do I have any qualms about the fact that the backyards of Dargon I was 25 years ago. Today it is a keep the Negro out here they said that to question. From the first part of your question to your group we were leader took questions from. I think that by giving people power. That they WILL use of in most cases in the right wire. This our sign is simply the Democratic base is what you're
raising as they issue. That was a major issue in the Federalist Papers. The debate was never settled. Hamilton's possession if you trust the people of power. Look at a lot of the sloppiest they had had any schooling there are literate they don't have any property. And here we live television. Educated properly responsible people. How can you happy let them be politically calls. We seemingly was often. Weeks up to the fact that ended up democracy. Our people are politically false. And have to turn except it might be dead except I think he's up to the point where you find them in their search for justice in the south. But you simply have to assume. That the people having the power will use it in the wisest way. Otherwise you can take and then I hear the democratic way and put up my
garbage can. That's what it comes to yourself and I will. Not have a fight. I have I have not seen it work out the other way. All right. I'm going to discuss that idea as a moment. Actually. I have never seen what was another question that always came up. When the community was organized. What about a demagogue taking over. So I would become a fascist little subtle. If you would ask me that 20 years ago my answer would have been what it was 20 years ago. Anything worthwhile carries a calculated risk that is no longer mine. Yes. I know now that you do not have to have guns. This minute chance for that kind of fascist push because you want to get done with this yummy. That kind of fascist operation when you have a vacuum when you have a complete disorganization when you have the kind of situation where the
basic thing of the fascist timing of this follow me what have you got to lose. When the people are organized. And when they are moving on they're getting things when they have plenty of things to lose. That war. And what happened back of the Yards is the oldest story in the world for Peter. I did up the stuff to know when. I was with their bare back of the Yards began in the worst slum an American. Doctor sent her jungle. I could do all I could do I was done some time discussing that situation the worst long hard. Worst one. And I cited the same stuff populated by what's happened to me. But. I'm back to the Yanks were saying. I could please have my community. So I organized.
And in 1940 38 39 40 41 42 all the way up to forty six. I was 40 when. I left earlier but I kept coming back until the back of the Yards was. And I said this without any reservations. Was outstanding militant separate rights fighting park and isolation in America. So described publicly by John O. At that time head of the CIA was so described. By whatever groups were in the field of race relations which were the end of the way your family in those days you didn't have course never was and so described even by the Communist Party. Was back of the yards in those days with economic boycotts said his mask pick and so forth. Practice said it did happen it was back in the yard that prevented. The Passionist but the negro dance whites for the
CIA was able to organize the stockyards for the first time in its history its record has come up is. What happened. You. See all the star in the world was her so she are just call us to Tricia's life is a story of what happened to the Christian church is a story of what happened to the CIA now its a story of what happens to guys in the butt. Cause when I get low I bought the lighter. Back of the yard stopping against the status quo because it became the status quo. Back of the yards he moved away from the lane from the dynamism of every happen not just to get. To the dynamism of our happy just to keep. US that started. So. It's a story what happened as it happened what you're going to read through all so you're one of the most revolutionary ones so much of the sock known to someone are your Sam's out of Boston. One of your planning firebrand revolutionary as head of the Sons of Liberty. And generic
somewhere. But revolutionary issues from Boston Tea Party to the massacre you. Saw. And the right to a revolution baby and I mail you the full right of every man. Until you came upon our own we had shared just about when I was a saint Sam Adams who went around screaming at everybody and Shay's Rebellion should be hanged. They. Got a right to if we got a right to a pulp and always got a right to vote against us you know. Our weather hash now we got it now we're really dead. So if you have been with him and in the air with nonviolence That's what always happens. Now. Someday somebody will finally do something about this something negative to the positive. So. This impact your success. I have never taken possession of the poor I should be Clark guy. I know from my experience of the fact that people are poor they're disenfranchised. With their vicinity. Yes they see their children without any hope of a future. They
see nothing ahead of them and they're subjected to every unlikely that we can think of that all these facts necessarily and out of the special problems nobody justice and charity. Doesn't work out that way and that's I get sad. Think on this point one of those Parker's interviews some of the worst losses we have are California with reference to the treatment. Of the Mexican-American field. Rations there where the LPs that came over John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath but now they're driving cabs. Now that perhaps. You see it all. I do it all over again sure. Oh I see it all the time. Look at I think before George Clooney became one of the arch conservative voices. But there was a time when he was alive for America.
Represent something progressive and stuff and I understand why it was very right down there. If you are sitting with us. This is the same. That's. When the world yesterday. As you move your position the power plant ships change your rational moves the. Back of the eyes have certain other. Factors involved. Let's recap opinion. It's almost. A way of ourselves and I'm a 5 percent capital program I've been a part of the 5 percent. Or more chances are that happened wrong for square blocks for many of the churches in the community. Our national church is not cheap. What do you know just by the national show. Do you know. How.
Well you know with sociology. Our Catholic Church as you had up until I think that while. I think they stopped giving off national charges on my part I'm. Sarcastic in my house. It didn't work. Last time I saw you was. Because my. Entire. Hockey draft choices were going to go live. Are you located in this part of the world. Where was I. Oh national church. Actually.
I was in my futon. Right if I got. My timing right. Sometimes I think it was. Sister would you know like. The Larry. But what she would have to see you have this but under strict immigration and they have these vast masses of immigrants coming over. From. Many of the countries they were all kept at countries Slavic countries Poland. Lithuania. Oh Germany you. Know the smaller countries but. I mean right as I came I was settled into our neighborhoods. Are soft neighborhoods are stable neighbor happy life that we had before a chance if you read it back in math when you go back and study our so-called stable
neighborhoods all they were national general was the fuel. Chicago's neighborhoods like any other cities my brothers were Jewish hybrid and I was. My brightest sweetest my brother John and I got a Polish neighborhood so far. As city. HALL So the Slovaks or any other group. In a social logical. Sense accommodated themselves to be Americans same which is a nice way of saying you've got some money in their pockets. And. Moved out. Then. They were always being replaced by other immigrants. And so these communities continue there. Actually once you have understood you have a much stricter immigration ended that was the end of the so called stable community life that didn't have a thing to do. With mass movements of populations that are now taking place. The only reason that these communities didn't completely disintegrate.
On a flight to the suburbs etc. was that we came right out of the US and to the. Oppression of the thirties. Nobody had any money to move. You're worried about staying and not being affected level moving and then we went into a period of World War 2 where there was an acute shortage of housing. And. You know where the rent ceilings and all those other things and so everything was frozen. Frozen for a period of almost. Oh 15 or so 17 year olds or threw that curve a lot of the stuff we're saying you know what happened. Way back there. And having been caught by these two forces well past the post came up with a member of the johns or any other national groups I didn't know this was a strange land for them. And as a consequence. They moved into this little poems to settle it the way you see little communities
where the restaurants serve the major food so first that and they wanted their own churches that's why the national churches. Where the sound is what you have a made up language where there are no schools their native language is taught. And spoken. Now. Back of the Yards has a great many of these national churches and I watch the neighborhood begins to change. You're not going to get all the poles. Moving at one time in a big fleet of buses going up to a little place and suddenly Don building another of a Polish national churches and the same thing with other national groups they will be defeated just out of the suburbs. And joining what is known as the American church this is the death knell for those national churches and their fight for their very lives. That. Situation isn't going to go on. But. It will be settled one way or another. But maybe there's a warrant for them in a
war. And. As I said the second is not going to be a pleasant thing for me to play a day in public. Very strong personal bond between many of our leaders and myself the darkness of our. Differences some of our possessions on us. We went through a great many things and those were days of real violence. Those were days of machine gun in. The days when you kept that precious machine. And. But what's got the benefit of the doubt. But I've met I've met. But if it comes to that it was a while that he might be a while integrators he's always been a very funny while the president put up a good fight. I'm always going to be thinking but I've taught you how to fight you know. Why don't you try your right at this point we're. Not the. Type of world. We want when.
They look around the Bay surrounded us. Those great sadness. When we made each other feel you know. You know why do I do this man mystified why a supply is coming north. Why should I hire while people. Be on the side lines. But I was of my stock. These are. Right next question. So just how we got to go to the right. I don't want to. Say. Oh. Well I actually like that man great. Why.
Do you. Think well of people within the Korean they get they can be trained to go ahead and do all the stuff happening to try. Right now we have. Only that we have to try things to to you know this guy was ahead of the press and I. Heard them. All first time we had father all right. Father down. Here we have a case of a Catholic priest in the piston having. Pretty serious head of the urban office and that tried it on and off by somebody else who went through the press paternalist to the Chicago mob in California. And. They have been and there been a couple of other people from the tripe that have come out and have been working around their projects and they're off to the races in the chart organizing themselves as no wife organizer there. They have no ranch what
that's where I come in for one day or two days and my cover strategy discussed is what. Made. Them last month. But but they were doing the job. Now while. You live in son so you can learn for us to show off to your. So it's a rough deal on the fly by yourself. But. You can. Murder just murder. That's a big blanket of what it's like a big boa constrictors coming up to throttle money and the plan of action. I'm just using these. Thousands of dollars. To try to kill us every place as in the plan of action for the time they don't know what law. They've
uses democratic consensus to begin with. I'll tell you why they use and whether sitting in the press. Even my alma mater. Even though I. Work every responsible group had a show and they saying what they had seen the t w o represented what law and I represent to Woodlawn in the sense that if you go into a factory darkened eyes a thousand workers and you can only organize 800 into the Union. You get a contract. You're the buyer recognize Delia and you're the bargain agent. You are correct. I'll tell you what the city is. Why supplier of the deal came in on the basic consensus after all what about the other 200. They take those 200 divided with 20 groups of 10 apiece and they said now we're going to have. A party committed truly represent the community and all twenty one of us will sit.
Down as equals we are the soul mate or you and I would challenge that fight to the death on top of that. They've gotten appointed by 200 of the so-called community as nothing more than the system precinct captains who then go around telling all the people talk about a t w our enemies and if you come to us our progress and that's what they call it babysitting cause then we've got a direct pipeline upstairs. Well get to the sign forget the model. We can get by doing it just SOP for through t w software and so forth. That's a tough enemy to fight. You say it's not good. This is why I took up you know his father not a war against poverty but a war against the poor. This is why Hunter's Point are frantic. This is why I can see that no matter where you go all I have to do is go into any town I got talking to probably programs are going to stand for a block outside the hall.
As I didn't sample such a short time people are getting angry. People are getting. Really mad by. So you don't mind. We Americans have. A program to come out of Washington this or would rather suffer a good deal. It's bad enough to see what happens. In terms of. The affluent society for all of the cars. Program Better yet it was an actual suicide. I have never seen a government program. Which has had such an it was there with support from big business and a damn few government programs a big business my thing my daughter is a make it is probably. Why the welfare industry or city hall. It's a huge park there. And there are a lot of our policies and they've been armed to the teeth with the sun but one is also seconded to us. Because we don't mind saying our program come out of Washington I was going to message mark somewhat That's to be expected
lifespan to be an offense in certain ways abaft expect partner have some grass to be like oh we didn't mind Buffalo I could put it to use we don't mind set American listening to a certain amount of doctrine. Coming from the papa. But a private time when our the minister is having an affair with the archivist. We really get a sort of sense of revulsion and that's what's happening a long time. And I get annoyed at my a lot of these statements see shiok and Michael obviously the state was about to ask them what the dickens was my sadness strike when you start talking about should we know what's gone. I was going I saxophone. What do you think is I'm on top of the poppy program when Shriver makes a state before a Senate committee that was put up upgraded by putting a pot of money and now what does she think was happening. That to happen is massive the people are being subjected to all of these conditions.
And all right got to do is just wrong some don't some some of these little challenge and this is going this time period piece and what is it as a piece that we're an actor or is a change in terms of those conditions. Because if it's peace then let's take the position that we are super cheap burgers and we just want to keep the animals from breaking out the taters. This is no MORNING place for even the so-called domestic Peace Corps. We're not condos we don't need a piece Koran here and we're not we're not the kind of foreign countries where you go and then start to have the shining light of day another water well or something we. We want action we want change we want change in terms of the things we have a right to expect. We want an opportunity necessary to go fight for those that are best Marcus Prior to the reaction of a lot of our people I was. Gonna repeat what I saw the SOC tomorrow.
It was a good deal. Talk to you what monarchist. One fessed up you know the domestic Peace Corps when they had one bomb we were going to greet them with a hundred negroes dressed in one fossil what after that one medicine and. Great. Pizza. What do they. Think we are. We all. Piling up there that they're going to do. Thank God. I'm not the star. I say that was a sign we have a lot coming up. While. It is a question I was do I attach a particular significance the fact that they are going to say she saw them by the sea invited the sound of the churches
and the assumptions made by the churches represent the status quo assumption with a good deal on the side. Yes I attach some significance to it and this to the sub extract. Off. Regardless of the churches and the man being tied up with the status quo. The fact that I sat in the arena in the fight for change today the churches are in the backyard. And I've said this before I'll say it again when I went to Kansas City Kansas Twenty twenty twenty two years ago. Organized at that time. I was being funded and sponsored by the CIO. And barley a couple of paragraphs of pay off by the Western church aside and going back to Kansas City Missouri about three months. Where do you find it and sponsored by the Catholic Archdiocese by the press to
turn churches in by the press to tell the churches there is no labor unions. Look at Salomon on the labor union people to say that our demise let it burn I was gone right back of the yards you know. And. So the churches are there. You want to know why did I have some of the questions. I frankly never. Question the motivation of those who are with me in a common cause. We take the allies. I fully subscribe to out west to Churchill's remark when he was told to highlight that night as he. Described in one of those five you know his profile biographical World War 2. The secretary coming tome and signing. Mr Prime Minister we have definite information is confirmed by our intelligence. The Nazis are moving against Russia by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
What are you going to do. Churchill what I'm still writing what I'm going to do. What I want to do with you have been denouncing the communist Soviet Union for years is what a. Chapter so I know why do you have a problem I have got. I have only one objective and that is that the feet of the parapet the weather and bad health minority standing up economist talking favorably about the battle are. Making this is an analogy. What I am suggesting you. Share. I have read the statement and I know I repeated the other matter facetiously but other but you cashed in my facetious last I guess it was the reason for IPO. We share the right to use the foxholes of the Christian churches find yourself in a foxhole. Someplace got to do something about believing and
doing something about just the nearest going to be in very serious trouble. And so what has my life. And it's moving. Thank God they are the number one. For us. Then the arena and the fight for change. In the Certainly civil rights revolution. Now it might be a little bit out of your experience to realize this but this is the case. That's why we are on and come. Right down. To the right. The question is with this it can say if I let any program run by the federal government should be run and then the other way and they implemented.
In terms of the sea don't be agreeable with us is that a question. Yes. The job on the job training project that we have with the Labor Department on MAD was tough. All of this is what a lot. Of the way a decent program can be a right bad first place we negotiated with automatic exactly like General Motors with a no go share with the United States job. We pointed out that we had a job training program to deal with us with our problems but had a program. For the job training and funds for. We pointed out the same kind of they had a problem they were a day like every other government agency was on the war under attack because they weren't dealing with the people. They didn't they weren't dealing with an off the people themselves. That's a double price. They certainly could use that in their public relations and they are in the summer of last. And I think the secretary of Labor hasn't used over and over heard in the
speech. And in exchange we want to do the job training project but we want to run our own wife. And. Family. While. We were not alone. But like the YMCA that don't have a job training project get Carlos del to have this project going to people finish the job of training that put together their jobs while I was a nobody and nobody got a second thought we were doing the job at the time the project and our community. Our people and if they couldn't get a job just happy they went through that program. They'd be on our next one bottle. Why did you baptise waste bandwidth on the summer job trying to get a job. That was going to be the case we were going to see to it that the whole country what in our body. Because we. Don't have one. And the reservations of our.
People cost structure falling apart tell us why do you go out and what was the why was all this puzzle so Bob. Government job retraining projects if there were in our jobs we trained our people and only 10 percent of them got jobs with job retraining projects and I got myself quite so far. We made this very clever so we got a job retraining project in the United States government is most helpful on the same token we have 100 percent placement on jobs. This is what I consider our equitable citizen participation relationship between the government and the people. Can be done with the program. Chill with the system a place that's too hard. Right. Right right. Right. Right right. Right.
Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Now but that doesn't mean violence if that's the truth. What is our else. Wrong with the pounds upon the individual situation. It's very difficult to generalize with my name. I'd might mean using the web line as a springboard to uncork I'm organizing a campaign through other communities in Chicago and take on the administration in a straight up and fight. Political fight.
At. At my command. Well I tell you what I think you're back to do which I give you an idea of what it might mean that you're getting in Bassa day. We find ourselves in a situation where or. Why we are going to be some millionaires Bank put in on high school and I went to South Shore. Which is a white community south of. Southeast of what long. Some millions to be put in a high school. At Parkland one which is north of. Just droplets. The terms of our community. Were fighting to stop them. When I stopped the other expenditures for fighting to get a decent high school and certain other things go with them. In our community. If we don't get it. I banged get better football.
Followers. And since Exodus follows Genesis in Genesis I already. Got through where we're already genocide Gen.. We know the West area the whites negroes again a movement. There's no trick to Blockbuster or something. The blockbusting with the whole community back in the blockbuster is going to be a no deal in this country. Even a whole community magazine I bring my sweats slum landlord you know on and then get those. Well maybe someone. Will give you a five year truce where well fill it up but we will and we won't be fucking you for that five years you know like one might argue back here on my behalf we want to get in that neighborhood. See the whole problem most of the terms of integration the statement that I made describing a so called residential integrated in the sell widely quoted I wonder why tears is in the way. I was. It's true I did make that stay in the racial integration as we know it today. Community.
Is a chronological term denoting the times between the countries. The first Negro in the exit of the last white man and between I met Greg. Moving on moving out. On the basis of getting integrationist time to look at the White stand there. And that's what we've been concerned with. But if we're presented with this kind of a situation where they've got all the good schools and we haven't got any time. I don't. Know how I thought let them run to the suburbs we're going to move in and take over at least look at the Better Schools and get the other things you know. And if they want to go and I set a plan around so. So we're saddened yet again so we were segregated Just before but look at the difference. All right tell us something that is what I would say the mayor is going to regardless are highly undesirable all the time. All right.
Let's go all right. I don't follow you both. You know you want to dedicate this photograph my. Wife. I'm sure you're being discriminated against but. I get to take questions about it. Are you serious. Yeah. Yeah. Right. My. One. Question is what specific methods were used and then Rochester. Why how many of you were at the New Republic story. On Rochester. With Reagan a Republican has. His university. I suggest you get it I think as of June 26 Deshon. June 26 cover star who was. Caught red too easy so shit out of the rich why am I lost. OK tails story on Rochester and a very accurate one.
Well it is what methods I used. Rochester was first of all the Rochester area Council of Churches and by the sound that saw the Protestant churches across the board. We did not do the Catholic Church to not join them and they are. All righteous but there was so out of OUR them. Was a friend of MacIntyre's. So. He's been allowed to retire with me because after you attacked me after I'd typed McIntire. I don't know why but he was saying he was very upset because of a TV interview I made a staple of the goddess of my reputation maintop and so forth that I do have a streak of Christian charity inside of me I want to man I was 81 years old and still living in another world and I am attacks me I just do not apply. So we have that situation down there.
What happened in Rochester the status quo went wild. You know almost poses a whole mythology just about these towns called the shark with the very notion that something is going to happen so we spent thought I could you know Rochester. If you know it you must agree with my statement which is God knows people pretty angry at them so huge southern plantation transplanted to the north. Saw it completely company dominated. So. After the Rochester area council churches asked us to come in we told them we would not come. Unless we were invited by the Negro community. Saw the negro in the Negro community at this point aside are looking askance so were Rochester because of Turkey was so I was right glad to wipe the lever all the CNR so interest on us for the last year. At this point the press really I'm loaded on me and I mean I'm loud and I mean when I was in Rochester I have to be dead I believe I'm. Ready Oh editorials every hour in the month of.
Newspapers while there was only one break and that was during the church a funeral. And I came right back. Home as I was in the zone. And. What the Rochester press in Iraq just a television media. Kept pouring out in the city was an empty island skate came out. That was the and the beautiful days which is why. The. Wild beautiful days for a while. But it was the end of the beautiful days of brotherhood waifs and race relations Sunday's. Race. Off the outside of that kind of Professor Phelps college or university Chicago's attack on me is a public service pointing out that the difference between consensus and conflict and that if I came on merit I believed I was bringing on this harping on Christian doctrine that I was going to be cited to a Negro population broadcaster. The only way you can get what is rightfully yours is to get organized to Gephardt the got out talent talent
it's just a rouse. And every negro on Rochester writers of course actually pulling. Media. Inside feel wakes up to see the opposition to the job just with University. This is what I mean by this. That's what they can see stars telling us what the point is what the car is now down and they can't stop themselves even though they know that what they're doing. This. Stuff. And if they do stop a little bit to just do some of it on the right. Bay yeah. The upshot was that we would see petitions signed by 12000 individual negroes petitions from every church in the Negro communities every civil rights groups and so forth. This was how we came out. What do you want me to tell you about. The first stages I was. I was
myself what I am. When I expressed hip Rochester. And I was asked what I was telling him thereafter I would hear it with everything Eastman Kodak had done in the field a race for life you know when I look sort of. Blandly stupid on the set I know they've done everything except introduced her I found. It. Boring. It began a. Class. One. Day. There are what we call the white feather fine the so-called community from which always opposes the system and I want to come I was sure. That the paps in our office tieless quality. Went for neighborhood houses and Rochester in the Seventh Ward. Thirty seventh wards and Negro communities starboard joining fight that's made by a nonviolent organization. Yeah. They. Have their the community fund the mediately told them that if they
joined that their budgets would be re-examined. So of course I pulled out so when I said blackmail. They look pretty funny maybe he said what do you mean blackmail always said within weeks I'm not but just look at Alaska look at the state you see my soul my son. So then the next day Rochester Times-Union came out and I piled up pointing out the stuff that I was for cancer I was for the Kamya CDC the agencies are supported by anything. I was against the Girl Scouts which is a lie. As I. Always said I've always believed in that same sobbing Chichi thank God for a lot of guys because I grew up to be like girls. I was against the Boy Scouts which is true I think they're hell. It was against. I was for alcohol or some I was against this. You know all these things. So my response was to. That but again the press cannot lie when they say I guess that's true but I would but I'm really worried just
because I say I have an Alaskan Malamute husky. I want to show you. What she. Was about 10 years old and he's saying. He's a backward reader because he he was born and got going before Operation Head Start and. So seen as a backward radar where the only paper I subscribe to the one that he can read is the Rochester Times Union and I was terribly so concerned that he might find out that the man that I was I guess. Yeah I want Friday to. Listen. Dead serious tensions at home as he weighs up and 40 pounds. And I just heard the knowledge of the people Rochester that I was for dogs you know one of us got the paper away from this is what I mean by. How. They been doing but what they did of course you get your you get your. Every post of mine is just my god. They did such an extraordinary challenge. This is a problem we're faced with now because the opposition goes into
such a panic and goes all out on us by the time we had town people I assume the Piedmont going away but we won and that's going to change. Aside from what the University of Chicago did with us what's wrong with what they're a toxic question just two and a half years ahead of organizational Scout's wrong headed all kinds of problems. As well as certain foundations timing belt use up and so forth but righteous. Start this I. Fast my story in microcosm last summer was a rough one. Almost twice once almost and we would have kept on Rochester for it hadn't been for heart patients. Having done what the one time when they start breaking windows which never got my papers I just say fuck the real tough guys on national ice. I remarked in a citation. How we had that assurance. Just a fact that when these kids started we told the place to stay
out. It was our own people that went to Applebee's. Jesse said look at Gloucester roughs they know who these people are all the sudden it was peace. If it hadn't been for the appetite what happed up to that. Point. Has been very funny I want to know that sometimes this rather embarrassed and the head of one of the big neighborhood houses in Rochester. Issued a public statement calling me a white Mohamud Alija the consequences of the Muslims John. Knightley. I forgot to Mark Foster the right she'll. Still. While. We may be on I. Don't know if. We have. We've had a very large delegation of big questions how do we go
about organizing in Washington D.C. When I face with a local government but what the Congress. You know. The local people know all the local autonomy. We've had quite a substantial delegation again of all the churches and with the spike. Asking for us out of the park. You walk. You can organize this nothing they can't organize. Except that that is in a free society. You can organize another kind of side of this entire different kind of Darkness A free. As I much love you might get a paper of your. Number. Which has been the center of awe questions. You can you can brain you can focus. Attacks on the particular committee to the point.
Where. You can make the check. That can't be done. You see first what you have to do on this is a big problem problem we have to play with. Kids start coming into the organization. And you have to before you start worrying too much about where you're going high you're going to go there where they're going to take this road to take that water this route. Which is what liberals love to do. You know we're going to do this. Work on. What we're going to this is our direction this is our ideology and so forth. Before you do any of those things you've got to go get to soften the automobile you know. Otherwise it's just talk. Now wants to get the car. Park tanked and whatever it is and I think I would be peaceful of office hours are now ways that you can operate out. But you've got a marker now guys. This is a problem we have a few kids not playing this record. On the first day back. Characters are introduced on the plot
basis aside to step down the start of the folding of the second act which is always a hard for playwrights usually referred to as a soft metal second. That's where the plot begins to pick up on. You're beginning to develop the characters more. As a third act which is they excited nak. Here you have the confrontation of good versus evil. You have the resolution. That's the drama. You kids don't want to go through the first and second act you know you want to come right in on the third act you can't do it. There's no shortcut. Believe me I wish there was. I had. I had an exchange with one of the humanitarian. I'm saying that the sky's identity is more like our civil rights leaders in America. In terms of our approach. B of A has a proud. His type of possession that are pro-choice. Took too much
time too long. And our approaches are going to station and his approach was movement. Are not the people. Skipper. You can't have. Some myself. I point my position why was there. A movement without darkness life was a blank. You know you have to have organization you see you not only have to have organization to get things. You have to have organization the power of our position to keep. And therefore you cannot just have a movement that just searches all work and then goes and leaves. You've got to have the power base there. When we deal with daily it's not only getting him to upgrade which is never. Too difficult but I'll get him to look up to his agreement that's one of the right. Things.
If you fly that you have to have a windy and stable South. Organization spike. A lot of organization is done by your air not through your town. It is a time consuming humdrum not less challenging challenge. Are you worried about what you see are the dramatic spots. For every dramatic spot for hundreds of hours. Just. Listening. Complaints about a. Fortnight back before yesterday. My one. Good question. Brought here. By the people who were headed. I wanted to great detail at the sub to know. How. It would take me about time. So what. I'm trying to point out somebody who was here. Who was in Iraq to go somewhere.
Where you only have to someone. When you explain it's about John. You want to hear this one. How many of you want to hear it. Oh I know. You don't need a mike. To hear question. Here but. That's. The question right now for that guy that I think that I. What I do to try to get representation out of the party and the party program right. I somewhat terrifying to his just cause of my. Baseball. Reputation right. QUESTION I was some spy people are kind of the representatives how do you go about determining who is
truly represent. 50 percent. Question. There are two ways that this can be done. I'll try to cut the shorter one. If you keep in mind that an organization not. Only comes in the bay in order to have the power to carry through a program. But I still have an organization you do not have a situation. From which you can get. Bonafide legit Representatives I want a community just like union representatives who go and work for the selected or appointed by for you. I go when I set up the parts table. Or credit on the riffle the question. Already. To Mark T W O there shouldn't be any question about. The closed barrier hack. But best in this quest in those.
Those I could vomit before I was to get your like other communities that can. Provide. One challenge. The legitimate representatives of the community are not exactly because I'm going to this consensus. I've talked about 21 days to go on this one. However most Americans is just like. How do you know then who are the representatives. Certified somebody is or is not and I mean what franchise or climb. Higher from Dawson. Could get a. Complete. Poor economic report representation on office box and you would have the same work as before. Robin Dawson whatever you want. You don't get I don't believe I'm the fuck you.
Have. To do with our one. Life. To live what to do. As you grow toward him you know. In the first place somebody said he represents the core in my proof. This would be a first class task going to let me start asking people those who represent you life Charters who actually worked and so forth. That's usually the side. But if you go and talk to you. And your. Group you. Are inflated looking for episode. II you can go to the various churches you can find the various interest groups. I mean I can tell you. That. Harder for. Those looking for representation. And what I mean. Just representation. Of the here will be a sum of money that the community can through just borrow. For what you're looking for for some time.
Being able to work out the kinds of programs and programs which they will have a definite voice and formulating not just a problem for me. And start a whole series of fast news tonight which churches hostility these meetings in other places and so on until finally they start getting it to. People get to know each other. People have talked about. Having. A worse period of six eight weeks. You can have a temporary organization which will have time for.
