Description
Description
"After the U.S. bombing of Libya, a White house press conference 'revealed' that the action was in retaliation for the bombing of a Berlin disco. The culprits were discovered 10 days previously. Every reporter there had a 3-hour old U.S. Press Release stating we still didn't know who bombed the disco. Not one reporter asked the burning question of 'How could we know something 10 days ago when we didn't know it three hours ago''"Thus we observe how the 'investigative reporter' of the '70's has devolved to the 'typist reporter' of today. Nowhere is this more evident than in the coverage of AIDS whose immensity of scope is overshadowed only by the paucity of factual information of medical and scientific merit as well as factual validity. "So we are left with a nation of misconceptions such as AIDS is caused by a virus called HIV, that it is a homosexual disease, that it is spread by dirty needles, it is incurable, it started in Africa or Haiti and more. But several alternative approaches are more supported by medical and scientific fact than the statements by public relations officials for large and governmental corporations. The electronic media has totally ignored a new [definition] of AIDS by the AMA which changes the whole ball game. Our public is left in the dark with its condoms and fears. "Hence the title of this series: 'AIDSGATE: Everything You Know is Wrong' "I enclose a [pertinent] and representative sample of the series, as I feel the enclosure of the entire series would be excessive and unwarranted. "The series is mostly interviews with research or medical experts with [appropriate] documentation of the real stories of AIDS. There is open phone conversation, some pre-recorded speeches and some journalistic presentation of the literature [directly]."--1987 Peabody Awards entry form. This compilation contains "portions of 3 pre-recorded talks on AIDS which were broadcast during AIDSGATE" as follows: "Dr. Eva Snead, M.D. from 'AIDS is Not A Conspiracy' NHF Convention," Orlando FL. 11-87; "How to Get AIDS From Your Doctor" Robert Mendelsohn M.D., NHF Convention; Radio Free America "AIDS" originally broadcast over KFJC, Los Altos Hills, CA with Dave Emory and Nip Tuck, researchers.
